But you also have this: religion has focused on how to live, which is, as I said, the first commandment: thou shall not kill. That was good in the beginning. But now it becomes something like "thou shall not kill unless the circumstances deem it appropriate," because that requires the development of somebody who is able to make a choice, an ethical choice, in the moment.
