A gentle invitation to notice the simple knowing that is always here before any experience, thought, or sensation.
Just notice the undeniable evidence
that there is something here,
something now.
What it is, is always changing,
it is constant movement.
The fact that something is constantly moving,
something we can refer to as experience:
perceptions,
sensations,
sounds,
breaths,
images,
thoughts.
We tend to think that's all there is.
All there is is the experience and the movement of it.
What we overlook
There's something before that, which we overlook.
We overlook its value.
It's so ever-present that we overlook it.
We focus on the experience and trying to make it better,
because something is missing,
something in the experience is not okay.
Right here, right now, always,
undeniable being,
before the experience.
So let the experience be what it is.
Let it flow, move.
Let it be uncomfortable if it is.
Let it be whatever it is.
The knowing
There is sound.
What is the knowing of the sound?
There is silence.
What is the knowing of the silence?
That simple, obvious knowing is the door.
There is one experience on each side of the door.
You could say in front of the knowing there is what is known:
sounds that are happening,
thoughts that are happening,
images in the mind,
sensations.
And what we tend to collapse into what we are:
sensations of the body,
thoughts of ourselves.
And then the knowing becomes the body and the mind that knows,
and I am the body and the mind.
The knowing knows the body and the mind,
is not bound by it.
Through the door
Dive into it,
move through the door and into the unknown.
Not falling towards the sense of subject.
Always now,
always present.
Noticing,
going into the world of thought,
forgetting.
No matter what is being experienced, thought of, felt,
something knows.
It's not a thing, it is just pure knowing.
This pure knowing has qualities.
It is a kind of emptiness,
but a loving emptiness.
Those aspects will reveal themselves in time,
the more we stay in the knowing.
Pure knowing
Recognizing pure knowing.
Pure knowing.
Not about knowledge,
a knowing of experience itself,
a knowing of being.
We are lost in thought; there is the knowing of the thoughts we are lost in.
We seem to be contracted in sensation and emotion.
There is the knowing of the sensation and emotion.
That pure, empty knowing is the door.
Recognize the knowing over and over.
It's that simple.
Returning to the knowing
Back to the knowing,
just the knowing of experience.
Noticing the tendency,
the pull to be immersed in the experience.
Merge with the thoughts,
let the immersion happen.
All there is, is needed.
No need to control thoughts or pull away from thoughts.
Just knowing I am immersed in thoughts,
the knowing of.
There's a lot of discomfort,
just the knowing of discomfort,
just the knowing.
Let the knowing be the center of gravity,
simple,
effortless.
Whether you notice or whether you notice not,
keep noticing.
Gently, gently.
