Doing Nothing

No Hacer Nada

A gentle invitation to notice the open, effortless awareness that is already present beneath all your thinking, feeling, and doing.

Doing Nothing

Exploring doing nothing

Let's explore doing nothing.

We'll explore doing nothing, traditional meditation.
We just observe, so if thoughts come, we let them come.
Thoughts go, we let them go.
Same with emotions, experiences, sensations.

But in a sense, all of that is doing something:
trying to observe,
trying to let go,
trying to let things be.

What is already doing nothing

What if there already is something that's doing nothing?

So instead of trying,
notice there is something already present that is doing nothing,
no matter how much effort you make,
how much you try to observe, to let go.
There already is something doing nothing.

So the shift is just to recognize what is more fundamental.

To do nothing points to that which does nothing,
not even observing.

That which does not think

When there are thoughts,
that which is here doing nothing does not think.

The true I, what we are,
does not think,
does not get depressed,
does not get angry.

Experience radiates:
sounds, sight, sensations.

The center, which is everywhere,
already is doing nothing.
Always present.
Always open.
Always not knowing.
Vulnerable.

Infinite openness

Do nothing.
Infinite openness.

Always here,
giving birth to all movement,
yet remaining motionless.

Thoughts.
It does not think.
Pure openness.

While breathing happens,
what we are does not breathe.

When we feel lost in thought,
what we are is unaffected by thought.

When we feel overwhelmed by contraction,
what we are is unaffected by contraction.

Always timeless and free.

Recognition over time

It may take as long as needed to recognize this,
over decades of experiencing contraction, thoughts, emotions.

Yet right now, what we are is fully open,
experiencing everything.

Already here

This openness,
this receptivity,
this presence.

No need to become open,
become receptive.
Notice it already is, prior to anything.

Breathing happens, we are doing nothing.
While thoughts are happening, we are doing nothing.
Body is moving. We are doing nothing.

This is the nature of what we are.
It does not need to be attained or achieved.
It is our essence already.

The heart is already loving.
Just let it be so.
