The Nothingness Within Form

La Nada Dentro de la Forma

A reflection on how form arranges itself, from molecules in a cup to humans in a tribe, and what it means to be human without being limited to it.

The Nothingness Within Form

A reflection on how form arranges itself, from molecules in a cup to humans in a tribe, and what it means to be human without being limited to it.

I was inspired by the previous conversation. I'm thinking about the nothingness within form, like the cup, for example, and the air, and how the molecules of the cup arrange themselves into a form. I just started thinking about humans and how we arrange ourselves in form. I had this image of the similarity between the molecules in a cup and the humans in the form of a tribe, or family, or government, or relationship, or team.

Yes, it's beautiful. It's life. It's just the play of creation. It's beautiful, and it's also painful. It's everything. Its manifestation is such a miracle, such a joy, including the pain and the apparent suffering. What a miracle that there is this, that there is form, that there is beingness, that there is the universe, planets, humanity, animals, plants. It's speechless.

Peace alongside creation

And that there can be peace at the same time as creation, as manifestation, as pain. One doesn't take away the other. There can be freedom alongside bodies and the limitations of being a human being. But I guess that's the thing: are you a human being?

Yes. Am I only? Are we only? No.

So it goes both ways. Being human, being more than human. To not deny our humanity and not limit ourselves to just being a human being. And there aren't two things that we are. Speaking about this in this way makes one think, "Well, I'm human and something else," as though that's another separate thing. It's not like that. It's very unnameable, but definitely: to be human, and not only human.

I have this desire to relax my identification with being a separate human.

Not two, not one

The human being, in the convention at the level of reality where we speak about a human being, is separate. But that's where it's language. It's somewhat appropriate to say that at that level, each human being is in some sense separate and independent, but not completely, and not at a deeper level.

What we are also appears as human form. It is manifesting, at a certain level, as human form. But it can be very misleading and confusing to say much about it. It's better to discover it the other way around rather than try to name it, because it is the unnameable.

Neti neti

It's better to discover it through the process of neti neti: "I am not this, I am not that." And then you start to recognize, to realize what is in that deeper place. We start to recognize or realize the source, which is what we are. But it's not a source, it's not a thing, it's not nameable. You can't describe it.

And yet, from that recognition, there can be an immersing back into being human. Something gets liberated.
