The Open Sore of Presence

La Herida Abierta de la Presencia

A gentle invitation to sink beneath the pull of thought and discover that the open, vulnerable heart of this moment is safe to feel.

The Open Sore of Presence

Sinking into the moment

The answer is always this, here, now.
Not so much a practice too.
Kind of force yourself to be here now,
efforting to be present is to notice more and more,
more deeply, that what we're looking for is this here now,
and then it's effortless.

Nothing can pull you away.
Nothing interests you more.

So as we look at what's happening, we can see what pulls.
If you can just sink into the moment,
into perception, sensation, the sense of being.
If you can notice the mind, but it's not pulling much,
just do that, nothing else, sinking into beingness.

What is the pull

The mind is very convincing.
The narrative is very attractive,
and you can look more closely.
It's a gentle looking.

What is the pull?
What are the sensations that are difficult?
How is the mind helping manage what is here?

Just assume that the mind isn't some strange force fighting you, pulling you.
Just assume it's something you're igniting, creating, choosing.
Or are you pulled, and why?
What compels you to choose thought?

Vulnerability and presence

There's a deep vulnerability and presence in the moment, in life.
An open sore, a gentle vulnerable heart.
And we can't manage it, protect it.
We don't need to.

We can learn it's okay
just to sit with that openness,
sit with that sense of uncertainty and vulnerability.
It's the door to the love we're seeking.
The door to our love.

And this love just loves.
It loves everything,
loves the appearance of sensations and sounds,
thoughts.
Finds extraordinary in everything that's ordinary.

Learning to be with this

We are able to be with this.
The mind just quiets on its own,
just learning to be okay with that open, raw vulnerability.
Learning that nothing is wrong,
nothing is missing.

Noticing the pull of thought

You notice the temptation,
getting pulled into thoughts,
going into a dream.

Curious what is here.
Is it again that sense of open, raw vulnerability,
might just be a little bit too hard to sit with?
Just uncertainty, maybe it's just too much feeling,
too much mystery,
too much beauty.
Too expansive.
Too silent.

Sitting with what remains

As soon as thoughts seem important, something new can be seen.
Thoughts aren't naturally dissolving, calming and going.
Look at what's happening.
Look in the body and sensations, the breath.

Thoughts are not important,
just coming, going, dissolving.
Just sit with that.

Let yourself get used to the deeper and deeper openness,
beingness,
groundless ground.

Be your new, own, always here,
always available,
and always accepted,
received,
welcomed.
