A question about whether the disappearance of subjectivity and objectivity implies a deterministic universe.
A question about whether the disappearance of subjectivity and objectivity implies a deterministic universe.
If subjectivity and objectivity disappear, is that the same as saying the universe is deterministic?
First of all, subjectivity and objectivity are a mental construct. They're not reality. You could say that subjectivity and objectivity are a way of interpreting reality, and what we're pointing to is when that interpretation stops.
The question of determinism
Now, the other thing is in a sense not that related, because whether the universe is deterministic or not doesn't change whether you interpret reality in terms of subjectivity and objectivity.
As for the question of whether the universe is deterministic: you could write a very long document exploring it, because you have to define determinism, you have to define the universe, and then it can become purely philosophical. There may be value in that within this teaching, but saying the universe is deterministic or not deterministic are both false.
Can you say more about that?
They are paradigms, interpretations imposed on mystery, and therefore limited to the mind. They are not applicable to the universe, because the mind is a lesser part of it. You could argue in favor or against, and in both cases be right and wrong.
The universe is going to do what it does, which includes everything: you and I, thoughts, all of it. Whether or not that constitutes determinism, I don't know. But the more you define a thing, the more you paint yourself into a corner.
Functionality over definition
If we are talking about science and physics, then what matters is: Is it functional? Is it practical? Is it useful? Does it work?
