An invitation to fully indulge in dreaming and distraction, then notice what quiet knowing remains unchanged beneath every experience.
Lao Tzu said,
the Tao that is spoken is not the true Tao.
To which you can expand by saying:
everything that is said, the opposite is also true.
But then you have to say, well, not always,
because everything needs to be negated, right?
And then you can't stop everything you say.
You have to keep adding, adding, adding.
That's the infinite nature of mind,
but let's explore it a bit.
Trying the opposite
For example, we try to be awake,
stay awake,
observe the mind,
disidentify.
While if the opposite is also true, at least sometimes,
let's explore that.
Let's dream away.
Full permission.
No effort to observe the mind or stay awake, in all senses of the word awake.
Fall asleep if you want.
Go into thought and dreaming if you want.
In fact, try to only be identified and dreaming and believing it all.
Try that as hard as you can.
Taste it, enjoy it, or suffer it.
Give yourself full permission, just for this time, twenty, thirty, forty minutes.
Full permission.
Find your fantasy of choice.
Now we can be indulging.
Exploring the taste
Does it taste familiar?
Does it taste different?
Replacing contraction, discomfort, diffusion.
Is there possibly something that hasn't changed
between trying to be present
and trying to indulge?
It's called the knowing of the two.
The knowing that tastes all tastes
What's the taste of identification?
That which knows the taste of contraction,
expansion,
disidentification.
That which loves the taste.
All tastes, all.
Nothing excluded,
nothing rejected.
All tastes are welcome.
That which does not try to welcome everything,
but that which is the welcoming of everything.
It's right here.
Before the label
What is here?
Before the sound is labeled as sound,
like thought, before the label "sound,"
what is it that knows the sound?
Or the sensation is labeled as sensation.
What knows that?
Is the knowing of the sound separate from the sound,
or is the sounding the knowing as well?
Is the sensing the knowing as well?
Absolute intimacy with this reality.
No resistance from anything.
