A gentle invitation to notice that life is already happening on its own and that our efforting to get somewhere else can simply be set down.
It's very important to understand, at least intellectually,
that meditation is not for getting anywhere.
There are meditations for getting somewhere,
but that's not what I'm here for,
not what I care about the most.
What meditation can do
In that sense, the only thing meditation can do or help with
is how to drop the sense, the desire, of being somewhere else.
How to drop the doing
that creates the sense that something's missing.
How to drop the doing that creates the sense something's better
elsewhere.
How to drop the doing
that creates the sense that
I know how things should be.
I know how things are, and how they should be.
Stopping cannot be forced
The stopping of the doing can't be forced.
It's very hard to force someone to climb Everest,
but if the motivation is there,
nothing needs to be forced.
No effort.
Just clear seeing.
When we understand the effort is futile,
we will naturally stop.
We do not stop through force or intention or struggle.
We stop by understanding:
the doing, the efforting, it's not helping.
Life is already doing
Life is doing by itself already.
There's no need to imagine.
But it's all up to you.
My heart is beating.
The wind is blowing.
Sounds appear, move and change and flow.
Imagination does what it does.
And that's a narrative, a person.
