The Thin Veil of Mind

El Tenue Velo de la Mente

An invitation to recognize thoughts as thoughts and rest in the direct, intimate texture of sensation, sound, and sight.

The Thin Veil of Mind

This is the art of meditation.
This is already everything.
Nothing missing, nothing to find.
Also empty.

Just the movement of forms and appearances,
the stunning beauty of all appearing from the mystery of nowhere,
going nowhere, just dancing, moving, changing, shifting.

That beauty is that love.
This is just a reminder for what is already here,
always has been.

Only in imagination is something missing

Only in the imagination is something missing,
something needed,
and these words point to that which can be discovered.

In your own experience, there's a tipping point.
The stream entry, and the pull of thought at any moment weakens,
our temptation to immerse in the illusions of imagination.

The mind constructs. It has its appeal. The constructs are still there.
But that sweetness of this: sensations, sound, sight.
This tasting is much more compelling.
The intimacy.
Much more satisfying,
and deeper and deeper into this.

Knowing thought as thought

Thought can continue, just know it as thought.

You hear a sound, you recognize it as sound and not as sensation.
When you see a flower, you recognize sight, color, and shapes.
You do not confuse it as sound or sensation.
The tingling in your hands and feet is known as sensation, touch,
not confused as sound.

But thought is confused.
Imagining of the world, planet, and space,
it's not known directly as thought.
It's known as reality, absolute truth of where we are.
But right now it only appears as a thought, 100%, all of it.
Factual, useful, but thought.

All of your memories, your experience, your past appears
as the truth of you and where you come from.
It is only all thought, all imagination.
Valuable, useful or not, just thought, just imagination,
while experience is shifting, changing, moving.

And from that appears a sense of time,
a linearity, and something here moving in that line.
All of that is thought.
There is only shifting, changing, moving appearances.

How often the imagination of future appears
and is known as true and real, important.
May be useful, but only thought.
All of it. All future. All past is thought.

Seeing through the veil

The sense of grasping this, understanding it or not,
is also a process of thought.

When this is seen by you in your experience,
thought is seen through,
seen as thought, as mind.
That is a glimpse of this.
A very thin veil of mind is pierced.
It's very simple.

What is needed is to look.
What is future if not imagination?
What is past if not imagination?
What is anything happening other than current sensations, perception, sounds?

Like all of the world, all of the people exist right now only in thought.
Where are you without thought?
Is there anything that can be you if not imagined?

One field

It's just one choice, one direction, one desire.
Movement into thought, movement into sensation, perception, sound, sight.

When the mind is seen as mind,
then it is just another appearance:
sound, sight, thought, sensation.
One field.
No perceiver perceived, one simple texture.

Intimate, juicy, empty, rich, alive,
divine, sacred, ordinary.

There's fear, there's discomfort, just another texture.
There's boredom, there's emotions, just another delicious texture.

The sense of spaciousness is also odd, just appearances.
No place, no distance.
Mind mapping it in space.

Surrendering into intimacy

Just relax into it.
Let the breathing be the most intimate.
Let the sound be the most intimate.
Nothing in the way of directly experiencing everything.

Any sense of struggle, turmoil, if any, just needs
surrendering, accepting the love that is piercing through.
The reality of this wanting to be seen, wanting to be met,
infinitely, directly, without the filters of thought.

Any uncomfortable sensation, just come to it,
looking to discover its juicy textures.
Curious, like a child testing, experiencing, experimenting.
What if I put this in my mouth?
Not so good. Still. Juicy. Strange.
Mysterious sensations of your own taste will keep coming.

Effortless

This exploration is actually effortless.
The effort is the pushing away,
not tasting that which is here,
attempting the impossible: to not feel the sensation that is arising.

This effortless intimacy can be explored all day.
Effortless.
Effortless.
