An invitation to explore the possibility that what you truly want is already here, waiting quietly in this present moment.
Let's assume that there's nothing to do
and nowhere to get to.
We can do things or go places.
It just means, what if what we really want
is truly, truly already here.
It's a huge what if.
You can take the path of a rational scientist
and explore that, experiment with it.
You can take the religious path
and do it as an act of faith.
You could also possibly listen to a quiet,
soft inner whisper that is saying,
it feels like that is true.
It resonates deeply in spite of all the noise.
So use whatever works best for you
and explore this what if.
Explore it right now.
Explore it all day,
every day when it is right now.
It's like a rabbit hole.
Once you go in, you can't really go back.
It's not always fun.
What if it's already given
What if what you really want,
what you're really looking for,
you cannot get to it,
you cannot achieve it,
cannot work towards it.
It's already given.
It's already here.
We just don't see it.
Exploring this moment
Just explore that intuitively.
Explore this moment you're experiencing.
Sounds, sensations, the body,
thoughts, images, lights,
even with eyes closed.
You find yourself thinking about this.
There's a lot of thinking.
Or closer to sensing.
Just gently let yourself sink into the body sensations.
Don't push away thought.
Just gently lean toward sensation.
Skin.
Breath.
Resistance
There will likely be some kind of resistance
or an inner argument with this,
otherwise it would be extremely clear
that nothing tastes better than this moment.
Always.
Let the presence of your being
gently do what it does effortlessly.
Let it push and pierce the resistance.
Let it embrace all of that which you do not like.
Let it show you the insignificance of your dislikes.
Let it take you down into surrender.
It might taste difficult,
might taste scary or painful.
It might be a true love previously unknown.
Love so beyond what you can grasp.
It could bend your will.
Slowly, gently,
we learn that nothing tastes better than the present moment.
And nothing can take us away from the present moment.
Peering through the veil
You find the present moment somewhat dry
or just ordinary, just uncomfortable.
Familiar.
Peer through that.
It's just a veil.
Mental image, let it drop.
See what's really here.
You have a tiny glimmer of beauty or mystery,
even a tiny glimmer of it.
Simple, simple and extraordinary.
That's a taste of the present moment.
Into the source
Let the mind float away.
Sink into sensation.
Peel into the source of sensation.
Don't assume just a physical body.
Peer through that.
If sensation is pleasant or unpleasant,
comfortable or uncomfortable,
it's irrelevant.
Go beyond the sensation into the source.
Slowly.
Gently.
