You mentioned "lesser" challenges or practices, and one of them was love. If it's love, I don't quite agree that it's lesser. I think that is the whole practice. The friendship you were talking about, where you come close to something that has too much fear and pain in it, and you just can't handle it, so you keep coming back to it again and again. That's the friendship, right? I don't think that's a lesser path.
