Seeing Through the Mirage of Thought

Viendo a través del espejismo del pensamiento

This session explores how most of what we experience as reality is actually thought-based interpretation projected onto direct sensation. Through guided meditation and dialogue, the teacher uses the metaphor of a mirage to illustrate how we mistake mental constructs for reality, and how recognizing thought as thought—rather than manipulating experience—is the path to liberation. Key exchanges address the habit of waiting for imagined futures and the mistaking of thought-generated sensations for direct bodily experience.

Breath, Thought, and Presence
meditation
Breath, Thought, and Presence
A gentle exploration of how thoughts, breath, and sensation all arise in presence, inviting you to tell them apart and rest in what remains.
Waiting for the Wrong Thing
dialogue
Waiting for the Wrong Thing
A question about recognizing the habit of waiting for something in the future, and how that waiting is itself made of thought.
The Shell That Isn't There
dialogue
The Shell That Isn't There
A student describes an intense sensation of being trapped inside a solid shell, and a feeling that something wants to break through it. The teacher explores how much of this "solidity" is actually thought, and how the way out is not to manipulate sensation but to recognize the interpretive layer for what it is.
