A reflection on how we construct narratives of paralysis, and how contacting a deeper sense of desire can move us beyond imagined limitations.
We use imagination to create the feeling of being stuck. We tell ourselves, "This is my reality. I am caught between these two options, and I can't figure it out." But that very sense of being trapped is itself part of the imagination. The narrative includes not only the dilemma but also the character who is stuck in it and can't do anything about it. It is all part of what is imagined.
We create that story and then believe it intentionally, because it serves a purpose. It helps us maintain a fear response. It helps us, for example, avoid making a choice or avoid moving in a direction we are afraid of.
What the deeper you actually wants
The big question can be said in many ways, but I often put it quite specifically: What do you, as universe, want? Not you as the person you know yourself to be. Try to feel into what is vaster, what is prior to that familiar identity. What does that vastness, moving through you, actually want?
If you could be guaranteed that you would get through the obstacles and be okay, what would the direction be? What would be the deepest desire?
